We all know that new cars and trucks come with warranties–some are better than others, with the average new car warranty being about 3 years and 36,000 miles (or about the same number of miles and amount of time). I personally drive about 5,000 miles a month or more, so those 36,000 miles go pretty quickly. So, if you’re a higher mileage driver like me, then you most likely need to either trade in your vehicle or buy an extended warranty.

I then selected my mileage, which is “0 – 60,000″. They quickly came back with the “Freedom Plus” plan, by “Great American Insurance Company”:

I was also offered some additional coverage options, the “Additional Coverage: Roadside Assistance Package”. To get more information, I need to then request a quote or call one of the phone numbers listed on the page.

I also took a look at the Continental Warranty Auto Warranty Glossary, which is pretty helpful. there’s a bunch of terms that I’m not necessarily familiar with, especially the definition of certified car and gray market vehicle. I’ve heard of those, but it’s helpful to know exactly what they mean.

Overall, the whole experience is pretty painless–and can definitely give you additional peace of mind if the vehicle you’re currently driving is just past or will be past its original warranty.
