Rocky Mountain Tracking has just introduced a new GPS tracking solution for vehicles that provides comprehensive real-time positioning information and services, including geofencing, optimal routing, close and rapid vehicle tracking, and customization. I’m seriously considering adding this to my new 2006 Chevrolet pickup, as it would be great to be able to track where my truck is at all times–and what’s really going on, especially when my wife takes it out for a joy ride (I’m just kidding, Debbie!).
What’s really cool about this new system is that you can access information about the position and status of your truck in real time; it uses wifi, cellular and satellite packet data services over 802.11x, GSM, CDMA, GeoSync Satellite, and Low Earth Orbit Satellite services.

The vehicle tracking hardware itself provides accuracy of between 3 to 16 feet, and it weighs only 4.5 ounces. Yet this device can transmit a host of data, including not only position but also excessive speeds, excessive idle times, lockdown violations, possible thefts and fleet activity.
